Ecodis takes over A-Engineering N.V.
A-Engineering is a Belgian company, established in 2002 and with its registered office in Niel. The company has a staff of around ten under the guidance of the co-founder and CEO Dirk Esselens. A-Engineering produces and sells patented ecological calcium prevention technology and sells and distributes partially patented Newtec water disinfecting technology. A-Engineering counts a number of renowned industrial companies amongst its clientele, including Coca-Cola, Umicore, VPK Packaging, Nestlé, Terbeke and Audi. In 2008, the company expects to generate turnover of approximately €800,000.
Newtec’s disinfecting technology is very similar to that developed by Ecodis. The ecological disinfection of water is carried out via electrolysis or anodic oxidation but using a different methodology. It is therefore complementary to Ecodis’ technology and opens up other areas of application. The Newtec technology must enable Ecodis to disinfect process water with a rapidly changing flow rate and it does this irrespective of the water quality.
Simultaneously with the takeover, the existing distribution agreement with Newtec will be expanded to include all its products in various European countries. Ecodis’ cooperation with Newtec therefore offers the possibility of developing agents on-site for disinfecting water in industrial applications with extremely high flow rates. These applications include those required for the supply of drinking-water in rural and urban areas. The cooperation agreement with Newtec also opens up the possibility of joint R&D and engineering initiatives, taking advantage of Newtec’s research centres abroad.
Ecodis is the market leader in the prevention of Legionella Bacteria using environmentally friendly technology. This has been certified by the Flemish government. Ecodis is also the market leader in the online monitoring of water disinfection controlled from distance and intends to equip the products developed by A-Engineering with this technology. Customers thereby have the assurance that the risk of contaminated water is minimal. In the near future Ecodis also plans to develop a “plug and play” product for sanitary installations based on the integration of Ecodis technology into the products of A-Engineering.
A-Engineering also has an exclusive licensing agreement with the German company ECS GmbH for the production, sale and distribution of environmentally friendly patented Calc-Tech calcium prevention systems and Petrol-Tech products in Western Europe, America, Africa and the Middle East. The application of Ecodis’ online monitoring system to these calcium prevention systems will also be possible, albeit in the long term.

A-Engineering and its owners and staff have been working in the field of chemical-free water treatment using the patented Calc-Tech® technology. This technology prevents lime scale and other deposits in the mains in industrial installations by means of magnetic induction.
