How important is R&D to Ecodis?

At Ecodis research is a very central issue. The engineers of Ecodis do not take chances when developing new technologies and new applications.They have the results of their research double-checked by universities at home and abroad. Particularly the Universities of Ghent and Louvain are very actively involved.

Dr. Van Keer of the Catholic Sint-Lieven College was the first to verify the disinfecting power of the ecodis® solution with regard to living bacteria in the water and the breakdown of the biofilm in mains systems.

From the University of Louvain, Professors Fransaer and De Bonte for instance were asked to monitor the functioning of the electro cell. Professor Ollevier, an authority on aquatic biology, confirmed the efficiency of the ecodis® solution on legionella, amoebes and biofilm.

The verifications carried out by Professor Verstraete from the University of Ghent establish that the ecodis® cell can remove up to 97 percent of undesirable components in the water (such as residues of certain pseudo-estrogens).

Ecodis is also in touch with foreign universities and research centres. In Lyons legionella-expert Prof. Etienne has studied the ecodis® solution and in Holland the KIWA has also ascertained Ecodis' major progress  and achievements in the field of waste-water disinfection.
