Who are the research partners of Ecodis?

For more than 10 years now, Ecodis has had the results of its research double-checked by the research centres of the Universities of Ghent and Louvain, and other water-related knowledge centres. The verification of the efficiency of the ecodis® solution in its various forms is crucial to Ecodis. Ecodis is proud to have had the results of its efforts appraised by many brilliant scientists.

At the University of Louvain professors J. Fransaer and M. De Bonte (materials engineering) carried out tests on the ecodis® cell.

Professor J. Coosemans studied the impact of the device on vegetable pathogens.

Professors C. Peeters and E. Moyson primarily verified the impact of the ecodis® solution on the presence of undesirable substances (such as humic acids) in the drinking water, as well as the impact on free living water bacteria and biofilm-related bacteria.

Professor F. Ollevier (an authority in aquatic biology) ascertained the efficiency of the ecodis® solution on the removal of legionella, amoebes and biofilm.

In the field of dentistry professor D. Declerck analysed the effect of the ecodis® solution in a dentist’s chair. This is traditionally an ideal habitat for the formation of biofilm because the heated-up water runs through tiny pipes. His verifications demonstrate that the ecodis® solution deals preventively and successfully with this problem.

Professor W. Verstraete of the University of Ghent confirmed that the device can remove 97 percent of undesirable components (such as residues of certain pseudo-estrogens).

Professor F. Devlieghere ascertained that fresh vegetables can be kept for nine days after being treated with water from the ecodis®, which means a significant improvement of at least three days.

Drs. L. Herman and P. Scheldeman of CLO-DVK are carrying out an ongoing study on the impact on meat and especially on the potential removal of Salmonella bacteria.

Dr. C. Van Keer of the Catholic Sint-Lieven College was commissioned by the SVW (Flemish Water Co-operation) to study the disinfecting power of the ecodis® solution on living bacteria in water and the breakdown of the biofilm in mains systems.

The drinking water company Pidpa (province of Antwerp) after thorough controls and verifications found that their bags of emergency water would keep for five months after treatment with the ecodis® solution, whereas it used to be just one month before. They decided that the electrodes of the ecodis® solution (the heart of the system) has a permanent character.  In other words, no undesirable substances or metals are added to the water. They also confirmed that, as compared to traditional chlorination, the concentration of disinfection by-products is much lower with the use of the ecodis®.

At the University of Lyons professor J. Etienne has been won over by the system, after the spectacular results of the study of Legionella isolates. This study was carried out by the accredited Limburg Derva Lab in conjunction with the University of Louvain.

The Dutch Kiwa (the Dutch water-knowledge centre) took note of the powerful results of a pilot installation in Holland
