German Newtec takes over assets and the activities of the Benelux water disinfection company Ecodis
Newtec Umwelttechnik (“Newtec”), a German company specialised in water disinfection, acquires assets and the activities from stock listed Ecodis NV in liquidation (“Ecodis”) and reinforces its European market leadership in electrolytic water disinfection.
Ecodis has entered into a final agreement for the transfer of assets (mainly intellectual property rights, certification and tangible fixed assets) and the activities (portfolio customer agreements) of Ecodis to Newtec Water Systems NV, a Belgian subsidiary to be incorporated by Newtec. Although this transfer has substantially no direct positive financial impact on the overall financial situation of Ecodis, the agreement provides (through a transfer of the future customers commitments of Ecodis) for an uninterrupted continued future service of the Ecodis customers by Newtec. This transfer is an important further step in the liquidation process of Ecodis, which is, however, at this moment not fully accomplished and for which, in accordance with liquidation regulations for companies , further information will be given in due course.
This acquisition of the activities of the stock listed Benelux market leader in electrolytic water disinfection is a major milestone in the international expansion of Newtec and reinforces Newtec’s European market leadership. After the integration of the acquired activities, products and technology of Ecodis, Newtec Water Systems NV shall continue to realise the international growth ambitions of the combined Ecodis/Newtec activities. As electrolytical water disinfection becomes a trend and is regarded more and more as an ecological and even more effective water disinfection alternative for existing water treatment techniques (even compared to other ecological solutions like UV), the opportunities for growth are very promising.
