Flemish government recognizes Ecodis as an alternative to thermal disinfection.

On July 4th Ecodis was the first company in Flanders to be awarded official recognition by Health Minister Steven Vanackere for its technology as an alternative control measure within the framework of the Resolution passed on the fight against the legionella bacteria of 9th February 2007. This is very important news for companies and institutions wishing to disinfect their water in a sustainable way. This official recognition by the Flemish government also confirms that the technology developed by Ecodis constitutes a very effective alternative to thermal disinfection. Ecodis doubles turnover.

On 28th August Ecodis published its operating profit for the first semester of 2008. Ecodis doubled its turnover compared to the same semester of last year. You can read the entire press release on our website

Ecodis appoints new Chief Executive Officer.

Elmar Peters (the founder of Ecodis) has decided, together with the Board of Directors, to appoint a new CEO. The rapid growth of the customer portfolio and expansion abroad require a full-time focus. Elmar Peters will remain a member of the Board of Directors and will provide advice to the company as a consultant. The selection and recruitment of the new CEO will be completed in the fall. Pending the new appointment, one of the directors, Carmen Cordier (through her management company CORCI B.V.B.A.) will be in charge of day to day management.

New logo stresses care for water.

The Ecodis-logo now has brighter colours and a new baseline. You will gradually see the new logo appear in our communication. Our website has already been modified and our writing paper, business cards and other visual materials are also being updated. The new logo dovetails with the style and ambitions cherished by Ecodis. The baseline has also been renewed. The new slogan must be tangible and understandable to everyone. Ecodis is a company which offers solutions for sustainable water disinfection and which is concerned about the environment and people: hence the choice for "Ecodis – caring for water"

New applications of Ecodis-technology.

In the Netherlands, 2 large sauna centres chose Ecodis technology to disinfect their water. Ecodis is therefore tapping into a new sector with a very tangible solution.

Care sector laundry becomes safer thanks to Malysse-Sterima and Ecodis.

Both hospitals and living and care centres no longer wish to disinfect their drinking water with chemicals. These put a burden on the environment and could be harmful to patients. The care sector therefore opts for electrolysis. This technique disinfects the incoming water in an ecologically and economically sound manner. Moreover, it provides disinfection of residual water in the mains. Malysse, the market leader in the leasing and maintenance of bedding and clothing for the care sector, takes this a step further. Their laundry is now rinsed in the last stage with electrolysis water.

Steven Vandenbroucke, environmental coordinator for Malysse-Sterima: "In industrial laundries the rinsing water is often disinfected with bleach, with the possibility of chemical residue in bedding or clothing and corrosion of the mains. We no longer wanted that. We therefore chose Ecodis’s safe electrolysis. This company, which is listed on the stock exchange, developed a new technology in collaboration with the universities of Ghent and Louvain. Moreover, they constantly supervise the quality of our rinsing water via online monitoring and take action whenever necessary. This assures us that it remains sterile."

In order to make the surplus value of the Ecodis-system visible, a new label has been designed. With this label, the customers of Malysse are guaranteed a sustainable and ecological washing process.

Calendar

• On Friday 17th October a workshop will be held on risk analysis of the legionella bacteria and other pathogenic microorganisms. Harmen Dekker of Ecodis will be speaking on the technology. The workshop will take place in Hotel Ter Elst in Edegem. You can register via the link on our website.
• Ecodis will be present during the days of free advice organised by VFB (Flemish Association of Investor Clubs), held in Metropolis, Antwerp on Saturday 4th October.
